About this partOverview

On modern engines (turbocharged, diesel, or hybrid applications) where intake manifold vacuum is insufficient or unreliable, an electric or belt-driven vacuum pump generates the vacuum signal that the brake booster uses for power assist. Without this pump, your brakes lose assist within a few pedal applications — and on the affected vehicles (many modern turbocharged, diesel, and hybrid applications), this is a no-drive condition. Common failure symptoms include a hard brake pedal at the second or third application, a vacuum pump warning light, and a faint humming or grinding sound from the pump location during initial start-up.

This unit is fully remanufactured to OE specification. The vane assembly, internal seals, and motor windings (on electric variants) are renewed; every pump is tested for vacuum draw and current draw before shipping. Direct bolt-in replacement for the OEM unit — no programming or coding required for most applications.

Frequently asked questions4 questions
Will I get a check-engine or ABS light if I drive without this pump?
Yes — and many affected vehicles will go into limp-mode with significantly reduced brake assist. Do not drive a vehicle with a confirmed-failed vacuum pump beyond a tow distance.
Do I need to bleed the brakes after replacing the pump?
No, unless you opened the brake hydraulic system. The vacuum pump only affects the booster’s assist circuit, not the brake fluid. Pedal feel should return to normal immediately after start-up.
Does this require programming?
For most applications, no. The pump is a plug-and-play replacement. A few late-model applications use coded pumps that require the dealer scan tool to register the new unit — check your service manual or a manufacturer-specific forum for your VIN range.
How long should this last?
Reman vacuum pumps typically last 60,000–120,000 miles, similar to OE. Premature failure is almost always caused by oil contamination — if your engine has an oil leak that’s saturating the pump’s mounting area, fix that first or the new pump will fail just as quickly.
Why buy remanufactured?Built to OE spec

Why buy remanufactured?

Remanufactured doesn’t mean used. Every unit starts as a returned core, gets disassembled to the bare housing, inspected against OE tolerances, and rebuilt with 100% new seals, bearings, and wear components. The result is a part that performs to factory spec at a fraction of factory cost — with a warranty to back it up.

Up to 40%

less than new

Same OE-spec fit and function as a new part, at a fraction of the price.

100%

tested before shipping

Every unit is bench- or hydraulic-tested for flow, leakage, torque, or pressure before it leaves the line.

Warranty

on every unit

Backed against defects in materials and workmanship. If something fails, we make it right.

Warranty & returns1-year coverage

Every Score Auto Parts component is covered by a 1-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship from the date of purchase. Warranty is void if the part is installed on a vehicle not listed in the fitment table, or modified after purchase.

Returns accepted within 30 days for unopened, uninstalled parts. Core deposits are refunded upon receipt of your old part in rebuildable condition.
