Nissan parts.

Nissan parts cover the Altima / Maxima sedans, Rogue / Murano / Pathfinder SUVs, Frontier / Titan pickups, and the Sentra / Versa compact line. CV axles and rack-and-pinion failures dominate the FWD car platforms; Titan and Frontier add power steering pump wear in the truck category. Nissan's CVT transmission isn't covered in the Score catalog, but every other front-end wear part is.

Most common Nissan services

  1. CV axles. Altima, Maxima, Sentra, Rogue, Murano, and Pathfinder CV axles wear in the 80k-130k mile range. Tight-turn clicking is the leading indicator.
  2. Rack-and-pinion. Altima and Maxima racks develop inner tie rod play + occasional fluid leaks at the rack seals by 100k-150k miles.
  3. Power steering pump. Frontier / Titan and older Altima pumps wear by 100k-150k miles. Whining + low fluid level repeats are diagnostic.
  4. Steering gear box (older Pathfinder / Armada / Titan). Older Pathfinder, Armada, and Titan applications use a recirculating-ball gear box that develops sector shaft slack and seal leaks past 150k miles.

Popular Nissan models in service

Altima (rack + CV axles + power steering pump), Maxima (rack + CV axles), Sentra (CV axles), Versa (CV axles), Rogue (CV axles + rack), Murano (CV axles), Pathfinder (CV axles on newer / gear box on older), Armada (gear box + power steering pump), Titan (gear box + power steering), Frontier (power steering pump + gear box on older), Xterra (gear box).

Notes worth knowing

Nissan uses Nissan e-PSF (electronic power steering fluid) on most modern hydraulic applications — different from Dexron / Mercon / ATF+4 and not always interchangeable. Always verify against the reservoir cap. Nissan OE numbers can contain the letter E (e.g., `49001-E0700`) — that's alphanumeric, not scientific notation; treat the full string as the part number. The 2013+ Pathfinder switched from V6 + gear-box steering to a unibody platform with rack-and-pinion — verify your specific year before ordering steering parts.

Common questions

Why does my Altima rack-and-pinion leak fluid?
Most commonly a worn inner-rack seal (where the inner tie rod enters the rack body). Fluid weeps onto the tie rod boot and runs onto the inner fender. The rack itself is usually still functional but seals are a wear item — replace the rack when the leak gets noticeable.
Can I use ATF in my Nissan power steering?
Some older Nissan vehicles (pre-2005 mostly) accept Dexron II/III as a substitute for the spec'd Nissan PSF; modern applications specify Nissan e-PSF and may not tolerate ATF substitution. Always check the owner's manual or reservoir cap before topping off.
