About this partOverview

Your CV (constant-velocity) axle transmits engine torque from the differential to the front (or rear, on AWD/4WD) wheel hub while accommodating both suspension travel and steering angle. Each assembly uses two CV joints — an inner tripod joint that handles plunge and an outer ball-style joint that handles steering angle — connected by a splined shaft and protected by rubber boots packed with high-pressure grease. Common failure symptoms include a clicking or popping sound during sharp turns (worn outer joint), a vibration that builds with speed (worn inner joint or bent shaft), a torn boot leaking grease, and a clunk on hard acceleration.

Each assembly is fully remanufactured to OE specification. We replace both CV joints with new components, install new neoprene boots packed with the correct grease for the joint type, balance the shaft, and pressure-test the boots before assembly. Every axle is dimensionally inspected against the original-equipment shaft length and spline count to guarantee a direct fit. ABS reluctor rings (where applicable) are inspected and replaced if pitted.

Frequently asked questions4 questions
Is the wheel bearing or hub included?
No — the hub assembly and wheel bearing are separate components and are NOT included with this axle. If you suspect bearing wear (humming sound that varies with vehicle speed, play when the wheel is wiggled), replace it at the same time.
What about ABS — will it still work?
Yes. The reluctor ring (the toothed ring that the ABS sensor reads) is part of the axle and is inspected/replaced during the reman process. If your check-engine or ABS light comes on after install, the sensor may need cleaning or the ring may have been damaged in shipping — contact us before driving.
Do I need to replace both sides?
Not necessarily, but if one CV joint failed from age (boot tear, normal wear), the other side has the same mileage and may be close to failure. On vehicles over 100k miles, replacing both sides at once is the conservative call. On lower-mileage vehicles, replace only what’s worn.
The new axle is making noise — is it defective?
Common causes, in order: (1) axle nut not torqued to spec, (2) inner tripod not fully seated in differential, (3) suspension component loose, (4) wheel hub bearing wear masking as axle noise. Verify all torque specs first. If noise persists with all fasteners correct, contact us — a true defective reman axle is rare but not impossible.
Why buy remanufactured?Built to OE spec

Why buy remanufactured?

Remanufactured doesn’t mean used. Every unit starts as a returned core, gets disassembled to the bare housing, inspected against OE tolerances, and rebuilt with 100% new seals, bearings, and wear components. The result is a part that performs to factory spec at a fraction of factory cost — with a warranty to back it up.

Up to 40%

less than new

Same OE-spec fit and function as a new part, at a fraction of the price.

100%

tested before shipping

Every unit is bench- or hydraulic-tested for flow, leakage, torque, or pressure before it leaves the line.

Warranty

on every unit

Backed against defects in materials and workmanship. If something fails, we make it right.

Warranty & returns1-year coverage

Every Score Auto Parts component is covered by a 1-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship from the date of purchase. Warranty is void if the part is installed on a vehicle not listed in the fitment table, or modified after purchase.

Returns accepted within 30 days for unopened, uninstalled parts. Core deposits are refunded upon receipt of your old part in rebuildable condition.
